OESJ UNVEILS NEW TURF FIELD

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

I am elated to be writing this letter to all of you today, announcing that the new OESJ turf field athletic facility is at a point in construction where we feel that our coaches, student athletes, and spectators will be able to safely use the complex. Our first game on the new turf will happen this Friday, October 13th, for the Boys’ Varsity Soccer Senior Night. Game time is 7:00 PM. To say that we are excited to see our students use this facility would be an understatement, as getting to this point has been accomplished by an unwavering commitment on the part of so many. I’d like to thank the taxpayers of the OESJ CSD for their continued support of the District’s commitment to updating our facilities and providing our students with the very best there is to offer. I’d like to thank the OESJ CSD Board of Education for having the vision to see this endeavor through like they have with so many other projects over the last several years. I would also like to thank our students, parents, caregivers, and community for demonstrating the patience that is often needed while constructing a project of this magnitude. None of this would be possible without your support and our hope is that you are as proud of this new facility as we are. The turf not only provides top of the line soccer and softball playing fields, but it can also be used for physical education classes, during and after school events, as well as youth sports, and other community activities.

While we are confident that the facility can be used safely, we do need you to understand that some construction is still taking place. There is additional perimeter fencing that needs to be completed to replace the temporary fencing currently on site. Additional landscaping and grass seeding continues, as well as some smaller items on the building that houses our concessions and bathrooms. We ask that if you attend any games this year that you are mindful that the project is not yet complete; but again, we feel strongly that everyone who attends will be able to do so safely. One of the most important items we need everyone to be aware of is that, due to a limited number of spots, parking in the new upper lot by the field will be restricted to athletic personnel and handicap parking only. Any other patrons, both home and away, will be asked to park in the lower level lots near the entrance to the new facility access road, the auditorium, or the parking in the rear of the building. You will have to walk up the paved roadway to the facility. If you feel that you need to drop anyone off due to concerns that they will have difficulty walking up the driveway you may do so, but please know that the driver will not be able to remain parked in the new upper parking lot unless they have a valid handicap parking permit. School personnel will be on hand to assure that eve1yone complies with this. Your patience and understanding in advance is greatly appreciated.

Again, on behalf of the administration, our athletic department, and the Board of Education and myself, we can’t wait to welcome all of you to our new, state of the art facility. Our students, as always, deserve it! I hope to see many of you on Friday. Go Wolves!!!

With pride and sincerity,

Adam Heroth,  OESJ CSD Superintendent
