“You’re capable of more than you think you are. Be confident in what you do,” class valedictorian Ashley Hill said during her address. “If this time two years ago you had told me that I would be up here giving my valedictorian speech, I would have laughed at you. I learned halfway through my junior year that if I put my mind to it I could accomplish so much more than I thought I could do. With a little hard work and perseverance anything is possible.”
Members of the O-E class of 2013 were Kelsey Bombard, Kodi Brown, Kyle Carman, Katherine Fletcher, Tiffany Gallt, Cole Harper, Ashley Hill, Richard Jasewicz Jr., Zackry Kadlic, Jaqueline Lynch, Donald Miller, Timothy Ouellette, Bille Jo Ryle, Kyle Smith and Paige Songer.

“Senior year is the best time to form memories. These memories define what high school means to you. I want to thank every one of you for being a part of my high school experience and hopefully my 50 year reunion as well,” class salutatorian Tiffany Gallt said.

This year’s senior speaker was Paige Songer, the school’s Honor Society president. Songer graduated third in her class.

“The most important thing is that you never forget who you are, and why you are who you are. Remember that this is the time when start to grow as a person. Stay true to yourself and don’t let other’s opinions morph you into the person you think you’re supposed to be. Let your journey of life morph you into the person that you truly are supposed to be,” she said. “Life will take you in the right direction; all you have to do is want it and let it. Congratulations to the class of 2013. I wish you all the best of luck and don’t forget that this is just the beginning.”

The 2013 commencement was the last for the Oppenheim-Ephratah district. On July 1, the new, merged Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District will officially begin operation.
