OESJ students collect shoes for charity
Students at the David H. Robbins and OESJ Elementary schools collected nearly 600 pairs of shoes to donate to charity.

Students collected shoes for the Coming Alongside Relief (CACRelief) organization, which provides relief for areas hit by disasters such as floods and tornadoes.

The two elementary schools in total collected 563 pairs of new and gently used shoes for the organization.

The largest single donation was received by Mrs. Heidi Sprouse's pre-kindergarten class at OESJ Elementary School, which received 166 new pairs of shoes from a Long Island-based shoe company. The shoe company donation was arranged by a friend of the family of pre-k student Myles Hayes. Together with other donations, Sprouse's class collected 223 pairs of shoes.

The class at each school to receive the most donations was rewarded with an ice cream party. At D.H. Robbins students in Mrs. Mang's first grade class collected the most shoes and Mrs. Sprouse's students collected the most at OESJ Elementary.
