OESJ teacher publishes novel
Heidi Sprouse, a pre-kindergarten teacher at the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Elementary School, has published her first novel – an adult romance story centered on two lifelong sweathearts struggling with change.

Published by Bell Bridge Books, a Memphis-based publisher of print and ebooks, Sprouse’s debut novel, All the Little
Things, is the first in a series of books she has planned for adult audiences. Two more novels are slated for release this spring.

Her book is now available on Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com, and copies will also be available at a Feb. 8 book signing at Mysteries on Main Street in Johnstown.

While Sprouse is a newly published author, she isn’t new to the field of writing. In fact, her recently published novel is the result, so far, of a decade’s worth of serious writing and perseverance.

“If you find something you really love to do, you have to stick with it,” Sprouse said.

Sprouse says about three years ago she took her passion for writing to new heights and set on a mission to find a publisher for her novel. More than 300 query letters to publishing houses later, Bell Bridge signed Sprouse up to publish All the Little Things

Throughout the years, Sprouse maintained a commitment to writing, practicing and honing her skills and even self-publishing several young adult stories on smashwords.com – all while working full-time as a teacher and taking care of a family.

“Mrs. Sprouse is an asset to our staff. She is a perfect role model for our students and really demonstrates what perseverance means,” OESJ Elementary/Middle School Principal Jeanine Kawryga said.

Sprouse taught at the Oppenheim-Ephratah School for 16 years and is currently teaching pre-k at the OESJ Elementary School.

“My advice to anyone pursuing a dream is to never give up,” Sprouse said.
Raised in Ballston Lake, Sprouse has been a Johnstown resident for 20 years.

She attended the College of St. Rose obtaining bachelor’s degrees in English and Elementary Education and masters' degrees in reading and early childhood development.
