Student collecting toys for children's hospital
The OESJ High School Pay It Forward class is raising funds and collecting toys to benefit the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center.

The students plan to "Fill the Van" with toys to bring to the center's playroom in time for Christmas.

The students will accept donations through Wednesday, Dec. 18. If you’re interested in donating, contact Zale Benton at the high school at 568-2011.

The students will accept donations of coloring books, construction paper, crayons, markers, colored pencils (highly needed), water color sets, Uno and other card games, Fisher Price doctor kits, Musical infant toys/toddler toys, crib toys, lullaby CDs, teethers/rattles, Pay Dough (small/mini containers are highly needed), dream catcher kits, bracelet kits, craft kits and gift cards of any sort.

The Pay it Forward class will also be offering a "Parent's Day Off" for district parents in grade K-5 Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the D.H. Robbins Elementary School. Funds raised at the Parents Day Off will go to the Children's Hospital. Funds raised at last weekend’s Parent’s Day Off at the OESJ Elementary School will also go to the hospital. [Please note due to the weather forecast the Saturday, Dec. 14 Parent's Day Off has been cancelled.]

The Pay It Forward class — which is among the 20 new electives at OESJ High School — focuses on community service. In addition to their holiday initiatives, students through the class work with a variety of community groups and charities including a foster home, an animal shelter, the children’s hospital and more.
