OESJ High School students begin applications for National Honor Society
The Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville High School is preparing to induct members into the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society.

The chapter is newly chartered as a result of the merger of the two districts, and former O-E and St. Johnsville society members, 17 in all, are now part of the OESJ chapter.

According to chapter advisor and OESJ High School math teacher Matthew Battisti, 27 sophomores and juniors meet the initial eligibility requirement of an 85 percent cumulative grade point average for membership.

The application deadline is April 10. In addition to the 85 percent GPA, students must also secure letters of recommendations from teachers and fill out the society’s application demonstrating leadership, character, scholarship and service.

Applications for membership will be reviewed by the chapter’s faculty council, which consists of five teachers.

Plans are underway for a May induction ceremony at the OESJ High School auditorium.
