POSTED 3/7/2014OESJ students learn science, literature, history through music
Thanks to the donation from a regional family, a troupe of professional musicians visited OESJ schools this week presenting concerts and small group workshops for students in grades K-12.
Five professional musicians from the Hudson Valley-based group, The Learning Arts, visited the OESJ David H. Robbins Elementary School and the OESJ middle and high schools Tuesday, March 4 and Wednesday, March 5.
The donation, made anonymously by the family, has made special interdisciplinary music programs such as this possible in schools in and around the Adirondacks for the past three years.
Workshops focused on topics including vocal performance and the science behind music. Through songs, the concerts exposed students to Broadway and Carnegie Hall favorites, literature and poetry and American history.
