Junior Marshall Yezierski and freshmen Alyssa Jasewicz, students in Sarah Jewett’s English classes, were admitted to the Pen in Hand Writer's Conference held March 7 and 8 at the Knight’s Inn. The annual conference, held each year in Little Falls, drew nearly 100 students and teachers this year from across Central New York.

During the event, six published authors mentored the students in small workshops centered on poetry, short stories and other topics.

“Opportunities such as this help our students develop their skills, build confidence and help students envision a career path that can put their talents to use,” said Jewett who accompanied the students at the conference. “We have so many talented students, and I hope to be able to bring more of them next year.”

To attend the conference, students completed an application process that included the submission of writing samples.
