The event, sponsored by the HFM Prevention Council, quizzed students in a game show style format on drugs, alcohol, tobacco, conflict resolution, bullying and stress.

The competition consisted of four games of three rounds each. The OESJ team offered up an impressive performance winning each of their four games.

“Our students spent several weeks studying and practicing for the event and their hard work was evident at the competition,” said OESJ team coach and third grade teacher Darle Smith. “The knowledge the students gained by participating in this event will help them make healthy decisions for the rest of their lives.”

OESJ students competed against teams from Broadalbin-Perth Middle School, Gloversville Middle School and Johnstown’s Knox Junior High School and the Mayfield Central School District. The Gloversville team took home top honors.

The OESJ team included Dakota Corapi, Dylan Corapi, Braden Fredericks, Bryn Fredericks, Joshua Montes, Alexis Mumford and Madisyn Schell.
