FFA members teach elementary students about dairy
FFA members at OESJ High School gave David H. Robbins Elementary School students a hands-on lesson recently about where ice cream comes from.

With advisor Christopher Smith, the Mohawk Valley FFA chapter members Monday, Feb. 24 stopped by the Advantage After School Program to make home-made ice cream with students in grades K-5.

Utilizing plastic bags, ice and rock salt, the FFA members showed how milk, a little sugar and some vanilla extract mixed together becomes ice cream.

“It’s a fun activity for the students but it’s also an important science lesson teaching students about the dairy industry and where our food comes from,” Mr. Smith said.

FFA members participating in the project included Ashley Chapman, Donna Boyer, Stephanie Arndt, Liam Sammons, Kaitlyn Isaac, Dustin Vicciarelli and Aryn Feagles.
