Class of 2024 Hosts Successful Spaghetti Dinner

The OESJ sixth grade class held a Spaghetti Dinner on March 5th at the H.C. Smith Benefit Club to raise funds for their end of the year trip to Nature’s Classroom in Lake George this June.  The cost of the trip requires quite a bit of fundraising throughout the year. It is a 4 day interdisciplinary learning experience focusing on the outdoors, team building and ecology. This year’s dinner was a huge success thanks to the help of students, parents, teachers, and community members.  Of course this event could not have been made possible without the H.C. Smith Benefit Club, which gives our students a chance to be a part of serving the food, setting and clearing tables, taking ticket orders, boxing up to-go orders, and running a bake sale.

In addition to the yummy dinner and beautiful bakesale there was a basket raffle this year.  A big thank you to parents for sending in items for this. They included the following themes: Candy, Camping, Game Fun, Spa, Easter, a Hulten Speed Sports Basket, and more!  A very special thank you to 6th grade parents: Mrs. Schuyler and Mrs. Illsley, for organizing and donating to the basket raffle and gathering gift certificates from local businesses.  Thank you to Big M, The Sweet Spot, Hulten Speed Sports, The Bridge Street Cafe, Motor’s Inn, Zipp Hardware, and BEST.
