Dear OESJ Families:
It is a pleasure to welcome our students back for the 2022-2023 school year. I hope that your summer months have been filled with fun, relaxation, and time well spent with family and friends. We are eager to begin the new school year and we hope that you are ready to approach this school year with optimism and excitement as you arrive at each of our campuses on Tuesday, September 6th.
Our maintenance staff has worked tirelessly to get our buildings ready for the first day of school. As always, we have used the past few months to continue to improve our facilities and learning spaces to provide students with a safe and comfortable environment. I am also excited to welcome new administrators, teachers, and other staff to our school community who are eager to join the OESJ team and work with our students. Our goals this year continue to focus on student achievement and our staff will be the impetus that brings our success. We will rely upon our strengths – our commitment to the pursuit of excellence, our own love for learning and our dedication to the students of this district.
As we begin the year, we do not have any restrictions due to COVID-19. There is no universal mask requirement and there will be no physical distancing rules in place. The OESJ CSD will be following the most recent CDC and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 guidance for schools. If your child does test positive for COVID, the CDC recommends that they remain home for five days from when symptoms begin and wear a mask through day 10, so we are asking for your cooperation in following this guidance. For more information, please review the latest guidance “What Parents/Caregivers Should Know about COVID Mitigation Strategies for the 2022-2023 School Year” (August 2022). If we are required to make any changes to COVID protocols during the year we will communicate them with you via Parent Square and the District’s website.
The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time and we hope that our students and families will get involved in school events and activities. We ask that you remain active in checking the district website, social media, and most importantly make sure that you are signed up and using Parent Square, which is a vital tool that we use for parent communication. The entire OESJ staff is here to help your children to succeed and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Once again, I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and healthy summer and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, September 6th.
Sincerely,
Mr. Adam Heroth
Superintendent of Schools
