Good evening.
We have been made aware, and want our community to be aware, that several local schools have received swatting calls. “Swatting” is a term used by law enforcement to describe a hoax call made to report a fake crime to emergency responders.
OESJ has NOT received any swatting calls, but we are in contact with other area schools and the Sheriff’s Office about this trend.
The OESJ CSD has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the use of threatening language, no matter the intention of that language. All threats made against our schools, including swatting calls, are thoroughly investigated with the help of local law enforcement.
Out of an abundance of caution, IF any of our buildings receive one of these calls, the school will immediately implement the appropriate protocol within our Emergency Response Plan, in coordination with law enforcement.
Thank you for your continued support.

OESJ CSD Superintendent
