Juniors and Seniors Visit HCCC

Students Visit HCCCOn Thursday, December 12 the Guidance Office arranged a college visit to Herkimer County Community College for interested juniors and seniors. Clare Burth, HCCC Senior Admissions Counselor, scheduled a day full of tours, presentations, student goodie bags and an overall crash course in HCCC which included everything it has to offer. Fifteen students were given a tour of the campus as well as a tour of Campus Meadows, one of the housing options. Some of the students had the impromptu opportunity to meet with the College President, Cathleen McColgin and Donald Dutcher the Athletic Director. Prior to lunch in the dining center, the group was able to meet with P. J. Anadio. Mr. Anadio is the technical assistant in the Athletic Department, serving as the Director of Intramurals, the Certified Pool Operator and Head Softball Coach. Anadio’s teams have an impressive record. However, his message to us was that being a good athlete on a winning team is the result of being a well rounded individual. He emphasized the importance of each team member being strong in the classroom and a person of integrity. He expressed the importance of knowing “What’s Your Why”? What’s your reason, what’s your purpose for the goals you pursue. The OESJ students, Mrs. Stalteri and Mrs. Van Wie went to Herkimer for a college visit and left with so much more.
