Four candidates – including the three incumbents – have filed petitions to seek three seats on the Board of Education on May 21.
Voting will be held from 12 noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 at Jr./Sr. High School auditorium (44 Center St., St. Johnsville) and at the Elementary School gymnasium (6486 State Highway 29, St. Johnsville).
The seats are unpaid and for three-year terms.
The candidates are:
- Jarrod Parsons
- Neil Clark
- Susanne Sammons
- Dean Handy
Clark (current BOE president), Handy (current BOE vice president) and Sammons are the incumbents.
In addition to selecting three Board of Education members on May 21, the community will also consider:
- the $19.95 million budget, which includes a tax levy increase of 3%;
- a $315,000 bus purchase proposal from the bus reserve fund;
- creation of a capital fund (which will have no impact on the 2019-20 tax levy) for future improvements; and
- purchase of a maintenance building at 6 South Division Street, St. Johnsville (this purchase will also have no impact on the 2019-20 tax levy).
