Dear OESJ Students, Families and Staff,
Today, Monday, November 30th, OESJ CSD administrators were notified that a member of the OESJ Elementary School community has been laboratory confirmed positive for COVID-19. This individual was last in the building on Tuesday, November 24th.
Upon receiving the information, district officials immediately began to work with the County Health Department that the individual resides in to help officials identify anyone who may have been in close contact with this individual. As with the previous cases, the Department of Health has determined that the individual was NOT in the building during the identified contagious period and it is unlikely there would be a need to quarantine other staff. After consultation with the Department of Health and due to the circumstances of this particular case, we will remain in our hybrid learning model with students in attendance tomorrow, Tuesday, December 1st.
Again, this notification is part of our commitment to keeping you informed during these uncertain times. However, privacy laws restrict district officials from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. Therefore, we cannot identify by name anyone who has tested positive. The individual who tested positive is in isolation for the recommended time and will not return to the building until cleared by their Department of Health.
Moving forward, we will continue to work closely with our local Departments of Health and we will follow their guidance on how to proceed. Please continue to conduct at-home screenings and maintain personal awareness of COVID symptoms for your children. Visit our website or contact your child’s school principal directly if you would like more information about our health and safety procedures. I realize that these are difficult times, but I assure you that the OESJ CSD is fully committed to providing a safe learning environment for all of its students and staff.
OESJ CSD Superintendent
