Abduction attempt in Gloversville; OESJ parents talk to your children

OESJ wants to make the community aware of two incidents reported to local police agencies:

On Monday, there was a reported attempted child abduction at the intersection of North Clark Drive and Summer Street in the city of Gloversville. The incident involved three students who were approached by a white male, wearing glasses, with a blue plaid shirt on, in his 40s or 50s with a gray beard. He asked for directions to the high school and then asked the three to get into his black minivan or SUV. The students refused and the male allegedly made a threat to them.

On the same day, a similar vehicle was reportedly seen in the village of St. Johnsville. The vehicle operator did not make any contact with students in St. Johnsville.

This notice is designed to inform the OESJ community about these incidents and to encourage parents to have discussions with their children about approaching or interacting with others with whom they are not familiar.
