Holiday Cheer and Glad Tidings of Great Joy Filled the Gymnasium at OESJ Elementary Music Concert!

On behalf of the staff of OESJ's Elementary School, I would like to sincerely thank all of the students who participated in last night's concert, the parents and community members who turned out in abundance to hear the angelic voices sing and the joyous cherubs play their instruments so beautifully!  This, the most wonderful time of the year, is a great time for each of us to reflect on all that we have and are grateful for.  I know I speak not only for myself but for all of our staff at the elementary school when I say, we are thankful to be working in THIS community with the many wonderful families and their children!  Words cannot express the feelings we all felt as the children played and sang - especially when our upper elementary students sang the song, Thankful.

The words inspired each of us; they were so inspiring that I would like to share them with everyone, including those who were unable to attend our concert:

Thankful

Some days we forget to look around us.

Some days we can't see the joy that surrounds us.

So caught up inside ourselves, we take when we should give.

So for tonight we pray for what we know can be.

And on this day we hope for what we still can't see.

It's up to us to be the change, and even though we all can still "do us".

And even though we all can still do more, there's so much to be thankful for.

Look beyond ourselves, there is so much sorrow.

It's way too late to say, "I'll cry tomorrow".

Each of us must find our truth.  It's so long overdue.

So for tonight we pray for what we know can be.

And everyday we hope for what we still can't see.

It's up to us to be the change, and even though we all can still do more,

There's so much to be thankful for.

Even with our differences, there is a place we're all connected.

Each of us can find each other's light.

So for tonight we pray for what we know can be.

And on this day we hope for what we still can't see.

It's up to us to be the change, and even though this world needs so much more, there's so much to be thankful for.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to You and Yours!
