Patatas Bravas & Guacamole

Eighth grade students in Mrs. Hayes’ Home and Career Skills classes and Mrs. Elliott’s Spanish classes have been learning about different foods. In Spanish class students read and interpreted a traditional Mexican recipe for guacamole and also a traditional dish from Spain called, “patatas bravas”. Patatas bravas are fried potatoes with lots of spices and a homemade salsa to go on top. Students watched and listened to a video on how to make patatas bravas in Spanish class and learned that the recipe looked different from what they are used to because in Spain the metric system is used. Students put their knowledge of these new foods and ideas to use by making them in Home and Career Skills classes. Of course, after all of their learning and hard work they got to enjoy tasting the new dishes.
