Mohawk Valley FFA Member as a Candidate for NY FFA District V President

On April 18th, 2017, Madison Dunbar, the 2016-2017 Mohawk Valley FFA Reporter, went through the NY FFA District President Selection Process. This process consisted of an agriculture knowledge test, a stand and delivered speech, and a personal interview where Madison was scored on a rubric. Madison was scored on her ability to show many things in her interviews like character, communication, critical thinking, passion for success, and influence just to name a few. New York is broken into ten different FFA districts, and the Mohawk Valley FFA is in District V (5). District V is centrally located in New York State while covering FFA Chapters from Fonda-Fultonville FFA to the Cazenovia Aggies and going as far north as Old Forge. The District is packed with many large and fruitful agriculture education programs. Madison along with three other members of the district were interested in becoming an NYS FFA District V President. The District President Selection Committee thought that two candidates of the four were the most qualified and Madison was one of them along with Taylor Rollins from the Madison FFA. At the NYS FFA Convention, May 11-13 members will gather to celebrate successes, compete for State Career Development and Leadership Development winners and select and induct the next New York State FFA Officer Team. At Convention is where District V delegates will vote to determine who will become the next District V President. We are excited that Madison has been selected as a candidate to become the next District V President and wish both candidates luck at the NYS FFA Convention! Once the District President is selected, they have many responsibilities. District Presidents are elected to represent FFA members, NY Agriculture Education Students, and FFA Chapters in their district. They are also responsible for writing a monthly district newsletter, maintaining and updating social media, FFA chapter visits, as well as attending and planning many state FFA events. The Mohawk Valley FFA would like to congratulate Madison on her accomplishment so far and wish her luck at the NYS FFA Convention.
