Mom, Nurse Practitioner and Steelers Fan Visits the Sixth Grade

Yes, this is one person!  Sixth graders at OESJ recently had a special visit by Mrs. Ruffino-Mosher to help introduce the next unit in science class: The Human Body.  Mrs. Ruffino-Mosher is a Nurse Practitioner, well-traveled Army Veteran, mother of sixth grader Sayge Ruffino-Mosher and an avid Steelers fan.  Students learned about different paths that could lead to a career in the medical field and learned about a day in the life of a Nurse Practitioner in a family practice.

Mrs. Ruffino-Mosher quizzed students on the eleven different body systems and informed students about typical growth and development for 12-14 year old children.  Students had a chance to ask questions and one volunteer, Jesse Walrath, received the treat of what a typical physical would be like.  Jesse was officially diagnosed with "Patriot-fan-itis."
