Mohawk Valley FFA Attends 88th Annual National FFA Convention

The Mohawk Valley FFA attended the 88th National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Nine Mohawk Valley FFA Members boarded a bus on the morning of October 25 with advisors Chris Smith and Kristy Shafer as well as 90 other NY FFA members advisors from chapters around New York State ready for their eight day trip. On the

way to Louisville, the group stopped for many educational tours including Lamb Farms, Lincoln Electric, North Coast K-9 Training Center, Wilson Football, the National Museum of the United States Air Force, and the Toyota Camry Factory.

The group spent four days attending the National FFA Convention. At the convention, members had many opportunities available. Students could attend sessions where they heard keynote addresses from influential people like Dr. Rick Rigsby, a motivational speaker, and Brad Montague, the creator of Kid President.  At sessions, members also got to witness the retiring addresses from the six retiring National FFA Officers, see the National FFA talent, band and chorus perform, and so much more! When students were not in session, they had the opportunity to explore the career show where there were hundreds of colleges, corporate, and career oriented booths. Students could also attend many educational workshops throughout the day that explored topics like diversity, leadership, growth, career success, advocating, and hunger. At the last convention session, six newly elected National FFA Officers were installed into office.
