Wednesday morning the elementary school building was brimming with fun and cheer as the entire school was welcomed to attend the H.C. Smith Benefit Club Raffle Assembly. Teachers and staff members of the OESJ Elementary School Building, along with family donations, began donating toys, games, stuffed animals and much much more over the past few weeks for this annual event. All proceeds from this wonderful event are given to the H.C. Smith Benefit Club, an organization that helps many families in our local communities. This was a great opportunity to show our students that children can and do make a positive difference in the lives of others.
This year our very own Superintendent of Schools,
Mr. Dave Halloran, entertained us with his guitar and singing voice, as he and Mr. Mike Catalina, Director of Facilities, played guitar and led all of our students and staff in singing traditional Christmas songs. One song included “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer,” as our Building Principal, Mrs. Becky Marzeski, tried hard NOT to be run over by Santa and his team of reindeer. The children sat in pure amazement and excitement as the skit went on. All participated in songs and laughter as the entire morning was filled with such entertainment by staff.
In the end, our school was able to raise a total of $ 1,426.00 for the club, which will go toward helping out more families in need during this holiday season. It was with great honor that we were able to hand over the envelope full of money donations to Tish Christiansen, Sven Christiansen, and Becky Hagadorn, a few members from the Benefit Club.
The students and staff wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy New Year!
