The Oppenheim-Ephratah St. Johnsville Central School District School Board engaged the SES Study team last fall to conduct a comprehensive study of the school district’s finances, economies of scale, an enrollment study and a capacity study.
After months of interviews, site visits and meetings with specific staff, the studies have been completed and have been posted on the district website.
The first report is entitled, “Are there options to the current practices that might provide more effective ways or patterns to organize how the PreK-12 program is implemented/delivered over the next three years”? The report provides four scenarios that would include the closing of one or more of the current school buildings. (download updated study here)
The second report is an enrollment study that projects future enrollment for the school district. (download here)
The third report is a pupil capacity study that compares actual student enrollment to the schools’ capacity. (download here)
The fourth report is a long range financial framework to help guide decision-making options. (download here)
Finally, an insert is provided that examines the financial future of the district if it takes no action and the financial future if it chooses each of the scenarios that are presented. (download here)
The SES study team will present their findings to the public on Tuesday, March 31st at 6:30 PM in the high school auditorium. The public is encouraged to attend. Hard copies of the study will be available at the presentation. The board will engage a focus group that will be charged with discussing each of the scenarios. Applications will be distributed at the public meeting and will be available at the superintendent’s office.
