On Friday, June 19, the Mohawk Valley FFA held their 77th Annual Banquet to celebrate their accomplishments from the 2014 - 2015 school year. Chapter officers opened the banquet with the official FFA opening ceremonies, followed by a welcome from Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School Superintendent, David Halloran. A meal was served, and then a keynote speech on the importance of family and culture was given by Maria Martinez, the 2014 - 2015 NYS FFA Secretary. Following the keynote speech, members received Discovery, Greenhand, and Chapter Awards based on their years of involvement with the chapter. Members gave speeches on this year’s leadership, community service, career development, fundraising, and general events.
Special awards were also given to members. Kaitlyn Isaac received the Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award, and Zach Tinkler and Aryn Feagles were recognized for the Bronze ranking Proficiency Degrees in Dairy Production Placement. Jacob Battisti received the Most Outstand Young Member Award, given out yearly by Bill Jones, a long time supporter of the chapter. Jeff Baker, Aidan Eggleston, Liam Sammons, and Zach Tinkler were recognized for their Bronze Placement in the Meats Identification and Technology Career Development at the national level. Two seniors, Kaitlyn Isaac and Laiken Whittredge, were recognized as graduating seniors. The 2014 - 2015 officer team retired, and the 2015 - 2016 officer team was installed as follows: Jeff Baker, President; Aryn Feagles, Vice President; Liam Sammons, Secretary; Aidan Eggleston, Treasurer; Laura Littrell, Reporter; and Zach Tinkler; Sentinel.
