Mohawk Valley FFA Members Earn High Rankings at DIstrict Career Development Events

The Mohawk Valley FFA chapter has a lot to be proud of after the NYS FFA District V Career Development Event this weekend.  Twelve members traveled to DeRuyter Central School to compete against seven other FFA chapters in five career development events.  Five members competed in the Junior Creed event, with Laura Littrell placing tenth out of 26 competitors.  Liam Sammons placed first in the Senior Extemporaneous Speaking competition, beating sixteen other competitors including two from the Mohawk Valley FFA.  Three members competed in the Job Interview event, with Laiken Whittredge placing first out of 25 competitors.  Casey Watson was the sole member of the Mohawk Valley FFA to compete in Junior People in Agriculture, placing fifth out of thirteen competitors.  Finally, the Parliamentary Procedure team consisting of Jeff Baker, Aidan Eggleston, Aryn Feagles, Liam Sammons, Zach Tinkler, and Laiken Whittredge placed first out of four teams.

All members placing sixth or higher will go to compete in the NYS FFA Central Region Substate Career Development Events to be held on Saturday, March 21, at Vernon-Verona-Sherill Central School.  Members will be hoping to place first or second in their event, which will qualify them to move on to compete at the state level in May.
