The district residents of the OESJ CSD are reminded that in order to vote in the district election on May 19, they need to be a registered voter either by the County Board of Elections or by the school district. The link to a voter registration form for all counties in the state of New York is http://www.elections.ny.gov/NYSBOE/download/voting/voteform.pdf .  County registration forms are also available in the post office and library.  The county registration form must be completed and returned to the county the resident resides in no later than May 5.

OESJ Students Get Generous Donation of School Supplies from Frontier Communications

Frontier Communications Community Action Team (CAT) recently paid the students at the OESJ Elementary School a visit to make a special delivery of school supplies.

The Community Action Team (CAT for short) at Frontier Communications is a team of employees who volunteer their time to help with various events in the community. They have a core group of employees that work together to organize and recruit for events.  Collecting and distributing school supplies has been an annual event for many years.  Each year the team distributes large boxes and flyers, to all of the Frontier employees, requesting donations.  They then choose a school district in their serving area to donate to.  They choose a different school each year and this year OESJ was the lucky school to receive their donation.

According to Elissa C. Rosa, the CAT Team President, the Frontier Family has a long history of helping customers in our serving areas and they are very happy to be able to offer some help for the children.

Special thanks to Darci Novak of the Frontier family for making the delivery.

When the three OESJ Middle School teachers, Becky Jenkins, George Brown and Brenda Waterbury along with teachers’ aide, Inger Leonard, were charged with planning a four week summer school for 28 middle school students, they wanted to make it fun and educational.  What better way to do that than to structure the entire 4 weeks around the topic and activities of “Summer Fun”.  See the full story here.

OESJ Elementary Summer School Begins

Summer school for all students who are entering first grade through fifth grade is beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, July 9th at DH Robbins Elementary School. If your child is riding a bus to to summer school, please be prepared for your child to board the bus earlier than they do during the school year. The earliest pick up time is 7:00 a.m., so if all students are ready to board the bus at 7, everyone will be assured of getting to summer school on time. Pick up times will vary because four buses will be picking up all summer school students across the district.

Students will arrive at school by 8:00 a.m. and will be dismissed between 10:45 and 11:00. Students who are riding the bus home could arrive home as late as 12:00 noon.

After buses leave, children who are walkers will be dismissed. Then adults who come to school to pick up a child or children will be let into the building to sign their child or children out. This is the same procedure that we use during the school year.

If you have any questions, please call school at 518-568-7023
