POSTED 12/17/2013OESJ Elementary School students raise funds for animal shelter
The efforts of a group of OESJ Elementary School students this holiday season has helped make the lives a little brighter for the animals at a local shelter.
Under their own initiative, OESJ Middle School students Maddie Schell, Ashley Engle, Brynn Fredericks, Alexis Mumford, Aeriel Schorer, Josie Brundage, Jayda Estey, Baylee Wood and Karis Montana began making handmade bracelets with the idea of selling them at school to raise funds to benefit the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter in Sprakers. The students set up a table in the school's main lobby during a four-day period and sold Rainbow Loom bracelets.
Through the fundraiser the students were able to raise $174.50 for the shelter. The students delivered the money to the shelter on Saturday, Dec. 14. Ayres employees said the funds would go to the shelter's emergency medical fund.
