District mourns passing of Mr. Ben Conte
The Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District mourns the sudden passing of board of education member Ben Conte.

Mr. Conte was elected to the OESJ Board of Education this April. He was also a member of the Oppenheim-Ephratah board where he served as president this past year.

“As an educator and board member, Mr. Conte cared deeply about students and their education. During the last several months, he contributed greatly to the establishment of the new school district as he worked with board members, administrators, teachers, staff and community members to make the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville merger a success. His vision for the new district was to provide an education to make every child college and career ready. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family,” OESJ Superintendent Laura Lawrence said.

Mr. Conte was a teacher in the St. Johnsville school district for 14 years before he joined the staff at HFM BOCES as an Environmental Conservation teacher in 1995.
