Due to pre-k screenings for incoming students taking place that day, there will be no school Friday, June 6 of pre-k students at the OESJ Elementary School. Classes will proceed as normally scheduled for all other students, including pre-k students at D.H. Robbins. Screenings will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

OESJ yearbooks available
Yearbooks are still available for sale, but supplies are limited! Pre-order soon if you have not ordered already! Books are $40, and order forms are available at the main office of any of the three district buildings. All pre-order books will be distributed beginning on Monday, June 9, and walk-in sales will be available while supplies last. High school students may purchase books or pick up pre-orders at the Yearbook Signing Party in the high school cafeteria from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 6.

Students attending OESJ Beyond the Bell afterschool programs often get the chance to engage in fun, creative projects that reinforce or give early exposure to concepts necessary for success in the classroom. In one recent Beyond the Bell session, OESJ High School technology teacher Kristy Shafer guided high school students as they constructed trebuchets, a type of catapult used in medieval times to fling huge rocks. [Read more...]

Gov. Cuomo delivers 2014-15 executive budget proposal 
Under Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Budget proposal for next year the state’s investment in schools would increase by $807 million or 3.8 percent. If approved by the state Legislature as outlined, OESJ would see a 2.55 percent increase, or $329,475 more, in state aid under the governor’s proposal compared to last year. As a result of the merger, the district will also again next year receive more than $1.4 million in state merger incentive aid in addition to regular state aid. [Read more...]
