Mohawk Valley FFA Celebrates FFA Week

The Mohawk Valley FFA celebrated National FFA Week from February 26th to March 2nd. The week consisted of many activities that made impacts on our school and community. Members helped to bring attention to agriculture and FFA through facts that were announced every morning, opening the eyes of students to show how important agriculture is! During the week the chapter also ran its elementary school coloring contest. The colored pictures were judged and the first place picture in each grade received an ice cream cone from Stewarts. There were also overall winners announced in three different categories. The overall winners were Lindsey Swick from kindergarten, Baize Wintermute from second grade, and Brooke Johnson from 5th grade. The students that were chosen for first place in every grade from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade respectively are Aurora Hayner, Lindsey Swick, Sage Clifford, Baize Wintermute, Case Stowell, Mackenzie Brown, Brooke Johnson, and Mahala Pratt. Finally, the chapter partnered with Tractor Supply Company in Herkimer to complete a bake sale. Over $100 was raised during the bake sale and the proceeds were donated to the Helping Hands Food Pantry in St. Johnsville. FFA week has proven to be a success as the Mohawk Valley FFA spread the word of agriculture and helped to support important organizations in our local community.
